Privacy Policy
Effective date: 24 September 2026
1. Who we are
Green Card Guides is run by Green Card Guides LLC ("we", "us"). Our address is 500 W 30th St, Apt 14F, New York, NY 10001. Contact us about privacy at info@greencardguides.com.
2. The short version
- If you use Green Card Guides for free without saving, your answers stay in your own browser. They are not put in our database.
- We store your answers only if you save a case, and only after you give separate, clear permission.
- Saved answers can include very sensitive information, such as your Social Security number, A-Number, immigration history and criminal-history answers. We use it only to run Green Card Guides for you.
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for advertising.
- We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools.
- Stripe handles payments. We never see your full card or bank account number.
- You can ask us to delete your data at info@greencardguides.com.
3. What we collect
Your account
Your email address, and nothing else. You sign in with a one-time link we email to you.
Using Green Card Guides without saving
- Your answers are kept only in your web browser, on your device. They are not sent to our database.
- They expire after 30 days, and you can erase them any time with "Start over".
- Anyone using the same browser on the same device may see them, so use "Start over" on shared devices.
Making a filled PDF. When you ask for a filled PDF, your answers are sent to our server, placed on the form and sent straight back to you. The server does not store your answers or the PDF, and does not write them to any log.
Saving a case
When you save a case, after giving permission (see section 5), we store:
- the case's route: location, basis and category;
- which forms are on the case and how far along they are;
- your typed answers, which can include your name, addresses, dates of birth, A-Number, Social Security number, family details, immigration history and criminal-history answers;
- USCIS receipt numbers you enter.
We also record when you gave permission to store them.
Your one free form per case can be saved this way too. Other forms are saved only once your case is unlocked.
Payment information
Stripe handles payments on its own pages. We never see or store your full card number or bank account number. We store your Stripe customer ID and, so you can see what is on file, the card brand, last four digits and expiry, or the bank name and last four digits. Stripe uses payment information under its own privacy policy.
Sponsor payments
A sponsor can pay for a case through a shared link without an account. The link shows the sponsor nothing about the applicant. We store nothing about the sponsor. Stripe collects the sponsor's payment details and email on its own page, and the payment is recorded against the applicant's case.
Case tracking
Case tracking is coming soon. When it is available, the receipt numbers you enter will be sent to USCIS through its Case Status API, and the status USCIS returns will be stored with your saved case.
Cookies
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
| gc_locale | Remembers whether you chose English or Spanish | 1 year |
| Sign-in cookies (Supabase) | Keep you signed in | While you stay signed in |
We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, or any third-party trackers.
Technical logs
Our hosting and database providers keep standard request logs, such as IP address, time and the page requested, for security and troubleshooting. These logs do not contain your form answers. Google Cloud keeps its request logs for 30 days by default.
4. How we use your information
Only to: create your account and send sign-in links; save your case and show it back to you; put your answers onto PDF forms when you ask; run pre-flight checks; take payments and show what is on file; answer your requests, including deletion; keep Green Card Guides secure and working; and meet our legal duties.
The only emails we send are sign-in links. Stripe sends its own payment receipts. We do not use your answers for advertising.
5. Your permission to store your answers
Adding a card or bank account, or paying, is not permission to store your immigration information. Before we first save your case, we ask you separately and clearly. If you say no, your answers stay only in your browser.
You can take your permission back at any time by emailing info@greencardguides.com. We will then delete your saved case within 30 days.
6. Who we share information with
Only the service providers that run Green Card Guides, and only what each needs:
| Provider | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign-in |
| Stripe | Payments |
| Google Cloud | Hosting the website and server |
| Resend | Sending sign-in emails |
We do not sell your information or share it for advertising.
Requests from governments. We give information to a government agency, including an immigration or law-enforcement agency, only when valid legal process such as a subpoena, court order or warrant requires it. We do not share it voluntarily. Where the law allows, we will tell you before we do, so you have a chance to object.
If the business changes hands, anyone who takes it over must keep protecting your information under this policy, and we will tell you before it happens.
7. Where your information is stored
Saved cases are stored with Supabase in the United States (us-east-1). Our server runs on Google Cloud in the United States. If you live elsewhere, your information is sent to and stored in the United States, whose laws may differ from yours.
8. How long we keep information

|---|---|
| Answers kept in your browser | Up to 30 days, or until you use "Start over" |

| Saved cases | 12 months after you last work on your case |
| Your account email | Until you ask us to delete your account |

| After you ask us to delete your data | Deleted within 30 days; copies in backups are removed as those backups expire |
9. How we protect your information
- Row-level security in our database means a signed-in user can reach only their own data.
- Information between your device and Green Card Guides is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- Server keys are kept in Google Secret Manager, not in our code.

- Delete your account and data, or get a copy of your data: email info@greencardguides.com from the address on your account. We reply within 30 days.

We honor these requests for everyone, wherever you live. You will not be treated differently for using them.
